The International Headquarters for World Vitiligo Day 2019 Campaign is the NHDV, Vietnam.
June 25th is World Vitiligo Day. It is a special day of celebration for people around the world to come together, to increase awareness of vitiligo, fight prejudice, and raise funds for research, support and education.
This year’s Theme is – The Quality of Life of a Vitiligo patient.
Although Vitiligo is not life threatening nor contagious, it has serious impacts on the quality of lives of sufferers. Sufferers lead their lives hiding behind a veil from society and sunlight. The appearance of the white patches, especially on visible skin, can affect the individual’s emotional and psychological well-being, including self-esteem and confidence. This can affect employment, relationships, and even the prospects of getting married in some cultures.
Our goal in 2019, is to raise awareness of what a vitiligo patient has to endure on a daily basis, how to cope and improve the quality of life. Also, we will focus on the latest research that is bringing new treatments and hope for sufferers.
Let’s come together to sound the alarm bell that vitiligo is worthy of Attention, Funding for Research to find the Cause and Cure, adequate financial coverage of proven treatments and federal and local support for patient advocacy.
Join us to end the bullying, social isolation, and suffering of vitiligo patients.
